Cinco de Me-o

This meme seems to be circulating as of late, so I figured I'd give it a go 'round these parts. The name of the game is to post five things about yourself that others most likely don't already know.

So… for example… I can't say that my favorite animals are white tigers, because I'm guessing you probably already figured that one out. If you didn't know that about me already, well…. I guess you're not all that bright, are you? :P

Okay… so here goes.

Uno.
I couldn't write a poem if my life depended on it. My best efforts turn out something like this:

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
this line doesn't rhyme,
and neither does this one.

Two.
I'm deathly afraid of flying, stinging insects. It's the only thing I've ever come close to having a phobia of. I'll quite literally just freeze up if a wasp gets too close — I won't attempt to swat it away, I'll just freeze.

C.
I'm a sucker for girls with Australian accents.

Second-to-last.
I'm a grammar nazi. Okay, so that's something you might have already known. Hmm.

Real second-to-last.
I love the smell of fresh copies. Walking past the copy machine here after someone just slaughtered a tree is the greatest smell in the world next to freshly-cut grass and freshly-brewed coffee.

Fin.
I wasted four years and thousands of dollars on a college education, only to discover that what I went to school for was not even remotely what I wanted to do with my life. I've since had a few jobs that make use solely of the skills I taught myself, and absolutely loved them.

So that's me. Now it's your turn… I'm not going to tag specific people, I'm just going to let this one go to whoever wants to take thirty seconds of time to fill out a comment.

Go.

Five things

It seems that I've been tagged by Barb to continue this… thing… that's been going around. “Going around”… sounds like a cold. In any case, there's been a few people passing this through the blogosphere (ya know, I really hate that word, but it's prevalent enough that I feel almost compelled to use it) and I've apparently been hit with it. The theme is that you share five things about myself that people don't likely know. Like Barb, I actually had a bit of trouble coming up with anything to put on this list. Some of them are cheats, I suppose — some people who know me fairly well in real life might already know some or all of these — but otherwise I can't think of much.

So without further ado, specifically much ado about nothing, I present to you my list of five things you might not have known about me:

  1. I'm actually really interested in politics and such but am just too lazy to do anything about it. Especially in recent years, with our country being screwed over, I'm more interested than ever in the political dealings… but frankly I'm just too apathetic to really get into any of it in depth.
  2. I'm allergic to cats. Okay, maybe this isn't something nobody knows about me, but I'm guessing most people who don't directly know me in real life don't know this. It's not even all cats; I just haven't been able to narrow it down to what particular kinds of cats I am or am not allergic to.
  3. I want to move to the Southwest. For at least the last 8 years, I've wanted to move out to the Southwestern area of the US. No particular area or even state, just out West where I won't have to see snow unless I go skiing.
  4. I don't want children. Actually I'm not a hundred percent positive on this, but I'm pretty sure. I just don't want any. I'm not completely against having kids if my future spouse wants them, but it's not something I'm going to push for.
  5. I'm terrified of stinging insects. It's my only real fear, almost to the point of being a phobia. I have no problems with snakes, bears, wolves, you name it… but if I see a wasp on the window, I freak out. It's weird. And I've only been stung twice, go figure.

Now you know. And I suppose now I'm supposed to tag five more people, I think. I choose you, Pikachu! Oh. Nevermind… um… I'm gonna tag Jeff, MrEggsalad, redshift, Dan, and Kate. I'll be surprised if any of those people actually do this, but hey. That's not important at this point.

I wonder if a better idea would be the reverse. In fact, I'll try it out. To anyone who reads this: What would you like to know about me? I'll give you a chance to ask me a question about myself, which I'll answer as honestly as I can. For obvious reasons, I will not answer questions like “what is your phone number” or “where do you live so I can toilet paper your house” but I'll do my best to answer what I can. Ask away. I'll answer whatever questions I get in a new post, whenever I get time and whenever there are enough questions to justify answering them.
