Yeah, see, that's the thing. I don't live within biking distance of much of anything. I'm still considering getting a bike though... it'd be good for losing some weight on.

I agree with Rum and Coke, it's madness.

A bike sounds like a good option, even if not for work for other short trips?

*Sigh* I just happen to be saving up for a new computer right now. It's about $1,200 and keep in mind I'm actually building it myself, or else it would easily be over $2,000. Having a part-time job and earning minimum wage, it will be a few months before I actually have this brand new machine.

Watching the gas prices rise everyday certainly doesn't make me feel like I will be any closer to my goal.

I dread the next day when I have to fill up on gas. The needle on the gas gauge is slowly creeping to "E". It gives me a sinking feeling inside.

Keep in mind, the gas prices where I live aren't as bad as yours, Tom, but... they're close enough. My Oldsmobile holds about 17 gallons. I can expect to be paying quite a bit.

Yeah, that's what I paid today - $3.799. Ridiculous.

I don't really live within biking distance of much, but if I need to make a run to the grocery store or walgreens or something, there's enough around that I can probably save enough money to cover the cost of the bike and more.

$3.79 and rising fast. If you live somewhere within bike range of anything, you're lucky! Definitely take advantage! I can only ride for fun and exercise, since I'm in the boonies, but it's a great time. That reminds me, I need to get out the maintenance book and tune 'er up for summer...
