I used to be a big LEGO freak too. I built my own ships and used them to fight one of my friends ships. Except we made scaled down models too small for LEGO men to represent the crew.

Our ships were supposed to be big like the ones we watched on Star Trek the Next Generation. I can't remember much about what they all looked like anymore. Recently though I've gotten into 3d modeling on the computer. I don't know squat about it except what I learned in a tutorial and there are some really frustrating challenges that no tutorial ever mentions.

If you're anything like me (an avid LEGO creep far removed from a once great collection) you might like to take up 3d modeling.

Grab a free, bug ridden copy of Gmax off their website, then grab this awesome tutorial, http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/download/download.asp?id=867 , and see if you're into it.

Don't make assumptions before you actually try it out. I started messing with it two weeks ago and now a small part of me that I thought was almost dead just woke up with a vengeance.

I found your blog when I was running a search for Toombs ship. You're right, there like only one blurry pic on the whole damn interweb :P

Sounds cool... just don't forget to take pictures of the old ones for posterity. The coolest thing I ever built from legos was probably something resembling a house.
