Crush
Erik and I were having a discussion about this tonight, and I thought it could make for an interesting post here. We were talking about movies we'd seen recently, and as conversations with Erik often do, the topic at hand quickly turned to the actresses in the movies.
We started talking about our favorite actresses, and by extension our celebrity crushes if we had any. I figured it'd be fairly easy to come up with a list of my top celebrity crushes. It was a topic that was brought up fairly frequently last year amongst the four of us roommates. So, I put some thought into it briefly, and here's my top five celebrity crushes, in no particular order:
- Piper Perabo. Okay, she's a little older than I (by eight years), but she's still gorgeous. You may know her from such movies as 'The Cave,' 'Cheaper by the Dozen,' and most notably the main character in 'Coyote Ugly.'
- Keira Knightley. She's been in quite a few movies. She's been Guinevere in 'King Arthur,' a handmaiden for Queen Amidala in 'Star Wars Episode I,' and you might know her best for her role as Elizabeth in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' opposite Johnny Depp.
- Speaking of Queen Amidala, next up is Natalie Portman. She's been in a few of my favorite movies — Evey in 'V for Vendetta,' Sam in 'Garden State'… and of course she got her start in 'Leon the Professional.' She's the all-around good girl, plus she's brilliant — and puts her education ahead of her career. Big thumbs up for that.
- Zooey Deschanel. My roommate and I apparently share this one. Trillian in 'Hitchhiker's Guide,' Reese in 'Winter Passing,' and Will Ferrell's romantic attraction in 'Elf.' She's one of those people where you're not really sure what it is about her that you like, but you know you like them anyway.
- The fifth entry becomes a toss-up, and the ones I decided not to include get honorable mentions. I decided the honor of my fifth slot goes to Rachel McAdams, which should appease Erik. She's probably best known for her roles in 'The Notebook' (sappy chick-flick, avoid at all costs if you have any testosterone in your body) and 'Wedding Crashers.' She's just… adorable.
Honorable mentions go to Mandy Moore and Jennifer Garner. Moore didn't make it because… well… I can't think of any good reason really. Because I said it'd be a top five, not a top six. She's beautiful, she's a good girl (the kind you can bring home to the parents), and she's multi-talented. Garner didn't make it because she's a few years older than the rest and married to Ben can't-act-his-way-out-of-a-paper-bag Affleck).
Okay… your turn. Any celebrity crushes? Not “oh man s/he is HOTT!” celebrities; this would be a list of celebrities who you'd love to date if they weren't celebrities. Andrea… that means no Johnny Depp for you.

Ok. im sitting here in my hotel room. (im on a business trip) and now that we have talked about this tom, i think i can make my top five choices of my actress crushes. And first of all, im a little saddened by the lack of mandy moore, but i do appreciate your honorable mention to my future wife. =) so…here is my list.
1. Mandy Moore. This doesnt really need an explanation. She is completely amazing. down to earth, smart, beautiful, and can sing and act. Like i said, id marry her in a heart beat.
2. Rachael leigh Cook. She has been in some of my favorite movies. Josie and the pussy cats, also Shes All That. I think she has the most beautiful eyes out of any of the others on this list. I could stare at her all day.
3. Rachel McAdams. This does appease me tom. Thanks. Basically for this, refer to what tom said. Adorable.
4. Now this is where it gets tricky. the final two. This slot goes to… Zooey Deschanel. Great movies. Elf, Hitchhikers, and The New Guy to name a few. The movie Elf made me fall in love with her. Watch the movie and you will too. And 7 new movies to look forward to this year and next.
5. And last but certainly not least, Natalie Portman. She played a great part in Garden State and of course Star Wars. V for Vendetta. Cute as a button. i cant say enough about her.
Now to the honorable mentions of the ladies that didn't make the all time list. Rachel Bilson. she was a very close spot for the 5th slot. Also Reese Witherspoon. I have always liked her. She is very attractive, but the whole Legally Blonde movie kind of pushed her out of the top 5. But still, Cruel Intentions helped a lot. The acting in legally blonde did make her seen like a dumb blonde, but she did go to stanford university, so she is very smart. It was close between her and Natalie. So honorable mentions, but no top slot. better luck next time.

What??!! I can't put Johnny on there?! (we are on a 1st name basis now). :) Actually If you really ever met him, yes I am sure I would not be as in love with him as I am now.
Ok here is my list as of now (I might be able to come up with more when I can get a look at my movies)
1. Seth Green- hes cute and totally funny in all the roles he has been in- something about the nerd-punk type of characters he plays- I am totally not the kind to go for red heads but hes my only exception
2. David Boreanaz- Angel from Buffy. Vampire with a soul, Nice body and compassionate…and some of his other characters he has done can be funny too.
3. John Cusak- Hes cute and I love all the movies hes done (that I have seen) plus I am a romantic comedy kind of girl and well hes done a lot!
thats my pick for now…mostly a guy with a sense of humor is the key..;)

mmh I don't actually have a crush on any of the ladies below haha! So don't worry I have not changed my sexuality or anything. Just wanted to pointing out my favourite actresses ..
So in no particular order …
1. Sandra Bullock from Speed to that last film I saw her in which was The Lake House, I always find each character she plays believable.
2. Nicole Kidman, just one of the best.
3. Cate Blanchett fanstastic in Lord of the Rings, The Missing, The Aviator.
4. Vivien Leigh - had a mention and oldie.
5. Carrie-Anne Moss, mainly due to the fact she is in one of my favourite films.

Ahh, good picks Sarah. Sandra Bullock is a pretty good actress — there haven't been too many movies from her that I haven't liked. I haven't seen Lake House (and probably won't) though.
Nicole Kidman would have made my list but she's a bit old for my tastes. Fantastic actress, and not bad looking either. Same for Cate Blanchett, though I haven't seen 'The Missing.'
I'd not heard of Leigh, but apparently it's forgivable seeing as she was born in 1913. An oldie to be sure.
I'm curious what movie you're referring to for Carrie-Anne Moss. She's in my all-time favorite movie, 'The Matrix,' but she's been in a couple other decent flicks over the years (namely 'Red Planet' and 'Suspect Zero'). Most recently I saw her in 'Memento,' which was alright.

Very good choices Sarah. I am also curious of the other movie Carrie-Anne Moss has done. Nicole Kidman has done some good movies. I wasnt a fan of Eyes Wide Shut. bacially a movie about an orgy, so im not exactly sure why i didnt like it…. anyway.
Vivien Leigh, A Street Car Named Desire and Gone with the wind.
Excelent choices.

Alternately, you'd be going to prison for lewd acts with a minor.
She's not legal yet, buddy. Not yet.

Okay so I know I've written versions of THE LIST on your and Erik's spaces…let's see who comes off the top of my head right now. No particular order.
Natalie Portman. - Firstly, she's just one of those girls that make me smile. She's adorable, down to earth, all of her interviews just make her seem like a fantastically well read and bright individual. Plus, she can pull of the shaved head. It was fiesty.
Speaking of short hair, Keira Knightly has been creeping up in my head lately. Okay for some reason her extra “got stung by a bee” mouth bugged me right off, but she won me over with the Domino look and the whole swashbuckler in PotC, plus she seems very genial in all the interviews I've seen.
Audrey Tautou - I don't know, but ever since I saw her in Amelie…she just, ah! Plus, once more she's just one of those very simple,d own to earth girls. After her mild success in DaVinci Code, she almost quit acting because the mild popularity was getting to her. But she's damn cute.
Summer Glau - Okay, for those of you who aren't completely pathetic, she was in Firefly and Serenity. And she's once again just one of those girls who can make psychotic and sweet seem just as fantastic.
Mila Jovovich - I know I know, I'm being completely crazy sterotypical here, but really…she is a very attractive, alternative looking woman! She's always picked a wide variety of roles that are just fun and experimental. I haven't done any personal looking up on this one, but really, she makes me happy.
Alt - Alyssa Millano. Another one who can pull off the short hair, high or low maintenance, and she's just fun. C'mon, you see that cut of her making fun of herself in family guy!? Fantastic!
Oh, and with a bit less explanation, men.
David Bowie (He's just so -nice- to everyone!), Christian Bale, Edward Norton, Seth Green and if Judd Nelson was younger, totally.

Ahh, you crazy Kiwi. I have no qualms with that list at all. Jovovich is indeed one of those women who, while she doesn't fit the mainstream definition of 'beauty,' is still somehow a beautiful woman. They mentioned something to that effect in the commentaries for the Resident Evil movies — she has a sort of otherworldly beauty about her. (speaking of… RE3 is coming out soon!)
And Summer Glau… le sigh.

I agree. That is a very good list indeed. It takes a certain kind of woman to pull off all the different hair styles. long, short, blonde, shaved as in Natalie Portmans case. it all works. Jovovich is just hot in any movie she does. I am really looking forward to RE3 as well my good friend.
I give it a 9.5 =)
